PLACE OF THE MEETING MOTIVE IN THE PLOT OF THE EPIC WORK (In the example of L.Tolstoy’s story “After the Ball”)

Abstract
In this article, the fact that the motive of the meeting is an important tool in organization of the plot of a work of art, like other motives, and its movement as an element of a plot that performs a spasific task in a work of art is shown on the example of the story “After the Ball” by the famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. Also, it is proved on the basis of examples that the motive of the meeting forms the basis of the plot, develops the events, determines the climax of the work, and connects the parts. The characteristics of this motive related to other motives found in fiction are discussed.
