THE INFLUENCE OF SOIL MOISTURE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF TURNIP MOTH (AGROTIS SEGETUM (DENIS & SCHIFFERMÜLLER) 1775) LARVAE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Experiments to study the choice of shelters for A. segetum caterpillars of the 1st and 2nd instars were carried out on sorrel (Rumex acetosa L) grown in pots with dry and moist sandy soil. The majority of turnip moth caterpillars were found on plant leaves in wet soil experiments and in dry soil in dry soil experiments. Larval mortality was found to be high in wet soil experiments and low in dry soil. The research results make it possible to assess the development of the fall armyworm and its distribution across regions.
