Ushbu maqola Yer atmosferasida nurlanish uzatilishining asosiy muammolarini yoritadi. Avvalo, yutilish, sochilish va issiqlik nurlanishining murakkab o‘zaro ta’siri sababli radiatsion jarayonlarni aniq yechishning umumiy usuli yo‘qligi ta’kidlanadi; amaliy hisoblar turli soddalashtiruvchi farazlarga tayanadi. Asosiy e’tibor quyosh nurlanishi diapazoniga qaratilib, uzun to‘lqinli («yer sharoitidagi») emissiya ikkinchi planga suriladi. Atmosfera va yer–yuzasi tizimida quyosh nuri bir qismini yutadi, bir qismini esa molekulalar, aerosol va bulut tomchilarida ko‘p martalab sochib, fazoviy va burchak nazoratini murakkablashtiradi; ayniqsa, qutblanish maydoni muhim rol o‘ynaydi. Maqolada tekis qatlamli (plane‑parallel) modelni keltirib, optik qalinlik, bir martalik sochilish albedosi va faza funksiyasi tushunchalarini izohlaydilar; Rayleigh, aerosol va ozon komponentlarining to‘lqin uzunligiga bog‘liq o‘zgaruvchanligi ko‘rib chiqiladi. Shuningdek, uzaqdan zondlashda radiatsiyani o‘lchash orqali atmosfera va yer sirtining fizik xossalarini qayta aniqlash imkoniyati muhokama qilinadi.
