Abstract

This article presents the basic rules for teaching elements of combinatorics in elementary mathematics classes and methods for explaining combinatorics problems in a form suitable for elementary school students. The article reveals the importance of developing students' mathematical literacy, explaining combinatorics problems, and analyzing them through critical thinking. In particular, the article discusses the theoretical foundations of combinatorics and the relevance of teaching it in elementary school. In particular, it provides information about the development of combinatorics and emphasizes the relevance of teaching it starting from elementary school. The importance of developing students' critical thinking, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills through combinatorics problems is emphasized. The article provides practical examples of the rules of addition and multiplication, which are the basis of combinatorics, and explains how to solve combinatorics problems using such rules and laws. It is also noted that combinatorics is interconnected with algebra, geometry, and probability theory and helps to master these disciplines in more depth starting from the primary grades. The article concludes that teaching the elements of combinatorics in the primary grades serves to develop students' logical thinking and creates a basic foundation for further strengthening of mathematical knowledge. The article also describes the main methods used in teaching the elements of combinatorics.
