Somatisms are a fascinating aspect of language that offer insight into cultural perspectives and expressions. They are particularly interesting when analyzed from a lexicographic standpoint as they reveal the unique ways in which different languages capture and express bodily sensations and experiences. Annotating the various somatisms from different languages and comparing their usage can provide valuable data for linguistic and cultural studies. By examining how different cultures conceptualize and articulate bodily sensations, researchers can gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between language, cognition, and embodiment.
In this study, we will focus on compiling a comprehensive list of somatisms from languages across the world and analyzing their semantic and grammatical structures. Through this lexicographic analysis, we aim to shed light on the diverse ways in which human experiences are shaped and articulated through language.
