In this article, the didactic conditions and specific features of essay writing, which has entered practice as one of the types of written work in improving students' speaking competences, especially written speaking skills, in the mother tongue classes of general education schools, the characteristics of essay writing skills instudentsmethodological criteria of development have been researched.
