Annotatsiya

This academic article is dedicated to a comparative-typological study of the literary heritage of the Uzbek writer O'tkir Hoshimov and the American classic Jack London. The study centers on the concept of "man and struggle," which is common to both authors but interpreted differently. The article contrasts the naturalistic, socio-biological nature of struggle in Jack London's works (a physical fight against nature and society) with the spiritual-psychological interpretation in O'tkir Hoshimov's prose (an internal struggle involving the torment of conscience and the preservation of humanity). The analysis is conducted along three main lines: "man and nature," "the individual and society," and "man's struggle with himself." It juxtaposes the individualistic rebellion of London's characters with the moral resistance of Hoshimov's protagonists. As a result of the research, the influence of the authors' worldviews, creative styles, and respective socio-historical contexts on their artistic concepts is revealed. The conclusion scientifically substantiates how universal themes acquire a unique artistic form when viewed through the prism of national mentality.
