The Fergana Oil Refinery uses a 20% caustic soda solution in volumes of 50 m³ and 100 m³. This solution is used to treat crude oil, causing sulfur compounds, petroleum acids, mercaptans, and other organic compounds contained in the oil to transfer into the alkaline solution, where they become saturated over 20 to 30 days. This solution is referred to as alkaline waste and is disposed of as waste.
The article examines the organic matter content in alkaline waste using the Chromatec-Crystal 9000 chromatograph. Organic substances are extracted from alkaline waste generated during the removal of oxygen- and sulfur-containing compounds from oil at the Fergana Oil Refinery, and their potential applications are discussed. The extraction of these compounds from alkaline waste can reduce environmental problems and promote resource recycling. The article also highlights ongoing research and future approaches in Uzbekistan and other countries. Additionally, the study reveals important prospects for achieving environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
