TRADITION AND INHERITANCE IN "TEMUR'S CODE" AND "BABURNAMA"

Abstract

This article illuminates the consistent approaches to state governance, legislation, and spiritual life manifested in the activities of Amir Timur and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. The works "Temur’s code" and "Baburnama" are analyzed as historical sources, with their content reflecting principles of state organization, moral and regulatory values, and equitable governance.  Amir Timur and Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, as great figures of their era, demonstrated independent thinking not only through their political and military endeavors but also through their literary and historical works, directing their views towards the interests of the people and the state. Their works are unique historical monuments that embody the moral, legal, religious, and social principles of state governance and societal life. These works are noteworthy for being based not only on factual data but also on the authors' personal observations, analytical perspectives, and historical consciousness. Notably, Amir Timur repeatedly examined events to present historical truth, while Babur adhered to the principle of not writing until he had confirmed the events he heard. The primary goal of both great personalities was to establish a strong, centralized state and govern society on the basis of justice. Their resolute stance against social inequality, creative approach to the formulation of laws and regulations, and dedication to preserving historical memory undoubtedly serve as an ideological and scholarly example for today's generation.
