The article scrutinizes the Elymus species included in the initial edition of the flora of Uzbekistan. In the analysis of data on the taxonomic structure, nomenclature, and biogeography of the genus, the works "Flora USSR" (1934), "Flora Uzbekistana" (1941), "Grasses of USSR" (1976), and POWO, which provide information on the modern systematic position of the genus site information, were used. Controversy over the types of species has not been resolved in the field of Elymus systematics for more than two centuries. The taxonomy and biogeography of species are being studied by a new generation of researchers, and this, in turn, is significantly changing the composition of the local flora. In particular, the species of the genera listed in the first edition of the Flora of Uzbekistan have changed systematically. That is, the Elymus species listed in the work are listed as Leymus species according to the modern system, and Elytrigia, Roegneria, and Semeiostachys species are accepted as synonyms of Elymus species. Nevertheless, the identification keys, morphology, phenology, ecology, and, most importantly, biogeography, i.e., distribution in the territory of Uzbekistan, are based on modern research. In particular, the next fundamental project, "Flora of Uzbekistan," which is one of its main tasks, is of particular importance as an auxiliary material for the nomenclatural, taxonomic, and biogeographical analysis of the Elymus genus of the Poaceae family.
