NONVERBAL MEANS IN SPEECH: COMMUNICATIVE AND PRAGMATIC ANALYSIS

Abstract

The article analyzes the communicative and pragmatic properties of nonverbal means used in speech. The functions of nonverbal means in creating content, enhancing speech, and clarifying communicative gestures are analyzed. In the process of communication, using nonverbal means, the speaker can determine whether the listener is listening to him or understanding him and how his words affect him, and the listener can indicate through his actions whether he is listening to the speaker or not, whether he understands or not, and whether his thoughts are important or insignificant. Also, through the linguopragmatic interpretation of nonverbal means, factors affecting the effectiveness of communication are identified. The article substantiates the importance of nonverbal communication in linguistics on the basis of a scientific approach.
