Abstract

This article analyzes the antonyms used in the epic poem Saddi Iskandariy by the great thinker and “Sultan of Words,” Alisher Navoi. It presents the lexical meanings of Arabic, Persian, and Turkic antonyms found in the work, based on their interpretations in explanatory dictionaries. The study also examines antonyms formed by adding relative adjective suffixes to nouns, antonyms appearing as izafet constructions, antonyms belonging to different parts of speech, and those expressing both concrete and abstract meanings. The lexical and semantic characteristics of the Arabic, Persian, and Turkic antonyms discussed in the poem are explored in detail.
